Uke update 6.2 - Neck: headstock veneer inlay

In preparation for gluing in the inlay, I created some rosewood dust using leftovers from the headstock veneer and a fine gauged saw. In retrospect, sandpaper would have worked better to give a finer grain to the dust.

The channel for the mother of pearl inlay to sit in was routed out with a Dremel (thanks again Freeman). For the glue, a two part slow set epoxy was used with some of the rosewood dust mixed in to make it opaque.

I put some epoxy into the channel followed by the inlay. A little more epoxy was added around the edges where it was lacking, and I jabbed around on the wet epoxy to fill the voids around the sides. Left it overnight to set.

After scraping away the excess epoxy and trimming down the inlay with X-acto knives, here's what I've got:

Still a little rough around the edges, and I did wind up with a tiny void in the epoxy at the top of the M that I'm not sure what to do about yet.
