In preparation for attaching the neck, I checked the neck angle what seems like a few hundred times. The left to right angle was checked by putting a straight edge along the side of the fretboard and seeing where it lined up with the soundhole. The same was repeated on the other side of the neck, and the two measurements compared. It started off with the neck pointing a little too far toward the treble side. A little extra sanding on that side of the neck heel and that pulled it back in. This was actually done in many, many sessions (sand a little, measure, repeat).

The other neck angle (up & down) was also checked, but was too awkward for pictures. I put the nut in the slot, the saddle in the bridge, and laid everything together as it would be in final assembly (sans glue). This angle was fine to start with... just wanted to verify.
Finally ready for gluing. This is strictly a glue joint (no dovetail or bolts, etc). I put down some masking tape (actually binding tape as that's what I had handy) to help guide placement.
I put in plenty of glue (probably too much) on the neck heel and underside of the fretboard extension. After a couple of deep breaths, I put the neck in place. It initially wanted to skate around on the glue. I wiggled it around a little to work out the excess glue, and when it started to "bite", made sure it was lined up with the centerline on the top and my tape lines on the sides.
My lovely assistant took care of wiping up the initial glue squeeze out while I held things in place and in getting it clamped in place.
Here it is in the clamps (giant rubber band and a couple of small bar clamps):
