To get ready, I put strips of binding tape around the sides and looped the loose end back on itself. This kept the tape ready where I needed it and already halfway attached ready to go. This was Mrs. Melandy's idea and worked quite well.
I used the Teflon strip as temporary filler to get the outer binding attached. The decorative black/white/black strips will be inlaid later.
