Well, I had somewhat of a disaster on my hands this evening. I was all ready to spray a wash coat, and I thought I would get the guitar nice and clean before spraying.
I loaded up a rag with some denatured alcohol and started wiping. Immediately after the first stroke on the soundboard I knew something had gone horribly wrong.
I forgot that alcohol was a solvent, and I had just cleaned off a nice wide stripe of my tea burst.
Apcray.
In for a penny, in for a pound at this point, so I went ahead and cleaned it all off as best I could. There were a few streaks on the lower bout where the stain soaked further in to the wood grain. I did not want to resand again, so I left the streaks there and shot another tea burst on top of it.
I think it turned out ok. This should qualify me for some sort of dumb luck award.
