Uke build 4.5 - Top: binding mishap

This is one of those "warts and all" type posts.

I have a strip of rosewood that I was going to do a binding around the top with. In the process of prebending it, I broke it in several places.

I used the uke jig and some finishing nails to make a bending mold for the binding.

I soaked the wood in water, and heated it up with a flat iron as I bent it into the mold. I did have one snap here, but for the most part the initial fitting into the mold went ok.

Where the problems started was when I added additional nails to the mold to make it follow the profile better. Several snaps there.

The binding is still technically all in one piece (the breaks weren't all the way through), but I'm really skeptical that I'm going to be able to make this work now.
